We feature many protections not available on most browsers and extensions, even in private browsing mode, including protection from link tracking, Global Privacy Control, and more. Oh, and our browser extension is free — we make money from privacy-respecting search ads, not by exploiting your data. Our built-in search engine is like Google but never tracks your searches. In September 2013, the search engine hit 4 million searches per day and in June 2015, it hit 10 million searches per day. As a privacy-focused search engine, the ads served on DuckDuckGo are based on keywords and terms of the search query.

We’ll show you how to use the browser extension in Chrome. The DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials extension is available for several browsers, including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox.
